It’s that time of year – fall’s big colour show is over for another season and we here in Canada collectively brace ourselves for another winter. But I can’t help but love this time of year – it always seems to be been quite an underrated month on the calendar, but I love the more subtle colours that emerge in Ontario’s landscape after all the leaves have fallen. When we booked Sarah & Trevor’s engagement shoot for the end of October, I secretly hoped that at least some dazzling fall colours would still be around on the trees. Instead, we got a cool and windy day (if there were any leaves left on those trees, they were certainly cleared out by Saturday’s gale force winds). But you know what – I think I liked it better this way :)
Sarah & Trevor live in Toronto, but we met up in Oakville’s Bronte Creek Provincial Park for our shoot on October 31. Yes, I considered going to meet them in my Halloween costume. However, common sense prevailed and I decided to bundle up instead!
Here’s Sarah & Trevor, all bundled up too:

Loved this field of prickly-round-things we found! Luckily they were NOT burrs and did not stick to our coats!

This is what I mean about those subtler colours of November . . .

Sarah showed up with her gorgeous blonde hair down – we stepped out of our cars and despite the blowing wind, I love that she decided to keep it down anyway . . . I love it!

And then, Sarah and Trevor jumped a fence and trudged through a muddy field to get these next series of shots . . . sitting precariously close to some old-school barbed wire . . . you guys rocked it out!!

Can I just say . . . there’s something I absolutely love about this next picture. I don’t know if it’s the texture of the coats that makes me feel all warm and good inside, or just the simplicity of his arm around her waist . . .

Dave can’t always come along with me to engagement shoots, but I love it when he can! It’s great to have him alongside me so I can pull him aside and actually be able to show couples how I’d like them to stand or pose with each other. And when I get chatting he’s always there beside me gently whispering in my ear “Jenn, watch out for that puddle!” He grabbed this next shot . . . where am I? Where else – hiding behind Sarah and Trevor!

The bottoms of Sarah’s boots . . . evidence of the earlier trek through the muddy field!
